Publisher's Summary Edit

The Birth of Canis may parody the title of a work of art, but the life of embattled pet owner Rob Wilco is anything but. As both master of the house and outnumbered human, Rob attempts to rein in his uncontrollable and uninhibited cat, Bucky, and his adorably naive and well-intentioned dog, Satchel - no easy feat when Bucky's destructive antics are in full force.

In The Birth of Canis, Bucky's boredom inspires his latest creative endeavor: his very own reality television show, Real Housepets. Always a step ahead of Bucky, the cat's ferret neighbor Fungo bugs Rob's apartment to film his own reality television show, Worst Neighbors. Amid the chaos, Satchel brings home a new dog, Ibid Q. Muttly, whose small size and over philisophical brain confuse and anger Bucky. The absurdity continues with Bucky's attempted inventions including the Fanlet - a wallet-fan hybrid designed to cool Rob's sweaty butt - and the world's first weaponized flashlight, the Knifelight. Between Bucky's misguided attempts at innovation and Satchel's unwilling participation in the Siamese cat's scheme, Rob's dysfunctional household is as rambunctious and hilarious as ever.

Get Fuzzy first appeared in newspapers in 1999. Darby Conley lives in Boston with four cats and three Band-Aids.
